We enjoyed ourselves a lot at OVFF. A temporary abandoning of my weight-driven cutback in beer consumption, driven by the well-kept stocks of Guinness in the hotel bar, meant I spent none of Friday night and little of Saturday night in the open filks, but then again I seldom spend lots of time in the open filks at OVFF. We enjoyed playing in the Big Backup Band for micktim and stevieannie. Interfilk auction went very well in spite of (or maybe because of) the severe cutbacks we made in the number of items going to voice. Interfilk Annual Meeting was successfully completed. ladyat and I had a good twofer with Hand in the Cookie Jar and I Knew a Guy Once. I had a blast in the Saturday night Who's Line Is It Anyway program item - I'd love to do it again. I actually got through some tunes on decadentdave's whistle in the end-of-con Irish sessiun.

micktim and stevieannie were a joy to have around the house, even though I didn't have a chance to con Tim into doing any work on the place *grin*. ladyat shuttled them off to the Cincy airport yesterday afternoon, and we will miss them terribly. While they were here, we got to show off the house and southern Indiana (Brown County wasn't quite at the peak of color but it was pretty close) and bits of Indianapolis.

decadentdave spent a good part of the week prior to OVFF with us as well. Thursday night before the con we had a chili party and a fantastic quick run-through of all the songs we were playing with Tim and Annie, which just added to the music in the background all week.

On Sunday, musicmutt and chirosinger decided that driving a few hours that evening would help make for an easier drive back to Minneapolis on Monday. So, we ended up with 50% of the OVFF guest list at our house on Sunday night - (please don't be mad at us). That made for a very rowdy tomato-soup (almost all home ingredients) and grilled-cheese-sandwich (homemade bread) dinner along with a Monday morning where it was very hard to stay at work.

Even though I pretty much dropped the diet for the weekend - ooooh, Guinness! - I've hit a milestone as of this morning. That's probably more due to the winding down of Fall Festival season in Indiana than on any special discipline on my part. At any event, the new weight low point is...

I've been flirting with 206 for about a week, and 205 happened rather surprisingly today, in spite of the ladyat special lasagna I had for lunch yesterday. The borscht and salad dinner last night must have helped.

With any luck, I can be under 200 by Thanksgiving.

Sounds like a really, really *lovely* time. :)

Thanks again for allowing us to crash the (very yummy) soup party and get a "head start" on our drive home Monday. We had a wonderful time and actually made it home before midnight (our time), right around *11*, I'd say.

Gray and I have checked our schedules and have figured out that February would be a great month to help out with bench building. So..... pick a weekend, any weekend and we can start planning bench building-type things.

Once again, I missed my chance to sit down and have a beer with you. One of these years.....

Yes, I'm jealous. ;-) It was really great having you guys there - and so glad you came to play a bit with us before you left.

By the bye, can you put me on the Indianapolis house filk mailing list?

Ooh, if you're actually considering coming to an Indy housefilk, let me know ahead of time pls? I can't make it to all of them but I'd make a special effort if you were going to be there.

Congrats on reaching 205! You looked great at OVFF.

Fun to hang out in the bar with you for a bit on Friday night. :-)
