Just trying to make our new owners feel at home...

First accumulating snow of the year this morning. After a decade and a half of Georgia "inch deep" snows, I was startled to find that 1-2 inches is actually enough snow to cover everything pretty well.

Our poor dog hasn't had to deal with this kind of snow in many years if at all - he was a little freaked out by it when I walked him this morning. once he finally figured out that I wasn't going to let him inside to do his business where it was warm on his toes, things proceeded apace.

I pulled out the ergonomic shovel and took a few minutes to clear the walkways and steps and front sidewalk. There's still snow coming down and blowing around, but it'll probably either only need to be swept or else it should melt off pretty quick when things warm up later this afternoon.

It's lovely to look out my office window and see the garden blanketed in white.

One wonders if I'll still feel this way come March...

Mmmm, I remember with fondness my one Christmas somewhere a little (1h?) north of Indianapolis, on my host-grandparent's treefarm. It was *lovely* with all the snow!

*warm hugs* & Tea! :)

Come on up to Milwaukee and visit. We've got a good layer of snow on top of the layer of ice! Very pretty.

We've got snow, too. Know anyone looking for a roommate for GAFilk, btw?

It's not that far a drive. We have wireless.

Would that I were able.

Hey Bill. . .Welcome back to Midwest snow. It's pretty outside of my office window too :-)

Your poor dog . .Brrrr!

Have you made a snowman yet?

Poot! 12 degrees celsius here and holding a pattern involving gusty winds and sudden downpours of husband-drenching proportions.

I wish we had a little snow :-(

Me too. I'm not holding out much in the way of hope though :-( But if it does snow then I'm ready to dash out and take advantage of it's undoubtedly short duration, even if it's at midnight!

Aw! Our снег came on Saturday morning and again on Sunday morning and had all melted away by Sunday night.

Kinda nice from a convenience standpoint, but I miss the pretty snow already. :)

вы говорите по-русски?

Not as much as I used to when I traveled there. I can still pronounce it and catch a few words here and there, but I was never fluent.

I love the language, though.

Always remember, you really need only two phrases when traveling in any country:

Пиво, пожалуйста.

Где туалет?

Thank you for my next laugh out loud of the day. :D

... with the necessary adjustment to Tschai (can't do Cyrillic on this PC) if you're Brenda. :)

Yeah, usually about April I'm convinced that winter will never end and I get a bit depressed about it. But right now the snow is pretty.

18 years in upstate New York gave me enough snow to last the rest of my life. It's flurrying a bit here, but nothing is sticking.

You did catch me a bit off guard -- there are 5 people I "read" who post primarily in Russian, so I had to do a double-take that it was indeed _you_ and not one of them.

A few minutes HMPH! Over the weekend we got a bit that I was worried wouldn't drain so I took 45 minutes to shovel the walk and the driveway. This morning I was running late, so I didn't, but I'll have to try to get home earlyish because I don't know if the sun will have taken care of the snow or not.

говорю немножко.

I had a Russian grandmother that I never met and a 6-week cram course as a grad student, but really don't remember any of it. Having to sound out the Cyrillic alphabet in your post was a bit much!
