Home Again, Home Again...
My pants are bankrupt after a long weekend of GAFilking (I wonder how many times we can legally file for pantruptcy).

In general things went very well, the hotel will miss us (and we will miss the staff) but we are very much looking forward to next year in a larger (and all-indoor) location.

Thanks to all the guests and attendees, I hope everyone had as good a time as we had preparing things for you!

Bankrupt Pants.

Call me sexist, but that phrase makes so much more sense when said by a man.
(Wallet in pants, as opposed to wallet in purse ...?)

Given that the phrase was coined by a Brit, the notion of bankrupt pants becomes even more amusing, regardless of gender. :)

Ah ... Whole new layers of meaning ...

Neither makes much sense to me, I would keep a wallet in trousers not in (under)pants and a purse is a female equivalent of a wallet so one wouldn't keep a wallet in a purse. (Note: I'm English not American *g*...)

I'm Canadian, so somewhere in between the two. ;]

I knew about the underwear/pants/trousers Atlantic Drift, but had forgotten all about the wallet/purse/handbag(/pocketbook) one ...

I might actually get there next year. The departmental conference that's kept me away the last two years has been moved up from January to October. (And from Orlando to Cancun - the company had a good year.)

Yes, had a great time, as is usual for Gafilk. We had dinner at a Mexican restaurant on the way home and it was interesting to try to switch my brain from "the other language I'm supposed to be dealing with is German" to "...Spanish". (Menu was, fortunately, translated; food was tasty.) Got back to my place in Urbana, Illinois right on the dot of 9:30 p.m. central. Got Art Warneke on the road back to Milwaukee this morning just fine.

Your pants being bankrupt, you might have missed the giant banana over Texas.

While it's hard to compare how much fun we had at the convention with an unknown quantity (how much fun you had preparing for us), I will say that the smile on your face whenever I saw you over the weekend pretty much summed up how I was feeling, so that seems good :-) In other words, it looked like you were having loads of fun, and I certainly had a blast, so thanks to you guys for putting on such a great party!

think profitable thoughts that i can get plane tickets next year.
