The Die Is (Being) Cast
We are formulating an offer and financing structure for the house and expect to submit it tomorrow.

Three Degrees of Separation has kicked in - the agent we are working with manages apartments for a guy who works with my Dad on church-building projects. Don't know how helpful that will be but it certainly raises our credibility.

Keep your fingers crossed. As ladyat says, no reason to believe the gods would shove this under our noses just to yank it away at the last minute, but we still have to fulfil our end of the bargain by qualifying for loans and having cash.

So is this for "snowbird" status? Or are you moving the whole kit and kaboodle to Indiana?

For the next two years it'll be a big vacation house (for heavy lifting values of "vacation"). After that, it depends on a lot of things, not least of which being what job Brenda gets and whether we can find a small place down here that is easy to live in for a month at a time.

To be honest, the snowbird thing may not happen until after Brenda retires and even then might not happen if we can depend on the kids having access to enough funds to come and see us.

Who knows, we're just playing today's cards right now *grin*

Indianapolis
It sounds great, and it certainly would be nice to have you and ladyat only about 2/3 as far away as you have been in Atlanta (though with all the weekend gigs I've had, Louie and me rendezvousing with the two of you, perhaps at some Chicago con, would be a bit difficult even so). I do note that Louie's and my current house was purchased when we were officially "just sorta looking" -- it was far, far too good to walk away from, so we bought it instead. I am quite sure you'll keep us posted, and I will be reading with excitement and expectations as you do so.

Re: Indianapolis
The great thing for our musician friends is that there is plenty of room for house concerts, as msminlr has pointed out...

Good luck! It'd be great to have y'all in the neighborhood (relatively speaking)...
