An Interesting Weekend
As you can read here, ladyat and I spent the better part of Saturday afternoon in the emergency room waiting for her broken lower leg to be attended to.

She is feeling much better today - to the point of wanting to be out of bed puttering around, which is a definite no-no because she isn't in a cast yet and needs to keep her leg elevated.

Last night, though, she was out like a light even though the GAFiA filk went on beneath her room. Thanks very much to autographedcat, kitanzi, quadrivium, weirdsister, and surrdave for handling the furniture movement, house setup, and transportation for us so things were ready when everyone got here!

It was a fantastic sing, with many in attendance and much music flowing around much conversation.

Things finally finished sometime between 1:30 and 2:00 this morning with a special showing of Monty Python's "Dead Parrot" sketch for quadrivium, who had never seen it.

Today I got up somewhat early to finish moving furniture back in place and to mow the lawn. I also did some of the weeding and edging that ladyat usually does.

For a yard with far too much clover and moss, it's looking pretty good this year.

While finally settling down this afternoon (after the Pacers won their first playoff game, woohoo!) I did some research and found that the song Baba Yetu, which is the theme for the game Civilization IV, was available for download from the composer Christopher Tin's web site here. His other stuff is very good as well, and I've added a few pieces to my playlist. The group that sang it is Talisman A Cappella from Standford University, and Chris Tin was once a member.

Yes, the song is the Lord's Prayer translated into Swahili, but the uplifiting sentiment associated with that prayer is itself universal.

We had a great time, and I'm sorry we had to leave as early as we did. Let us know if you need help sitting on ladyat to keep her in bed!
