Yes, I Am Actually Alive
Well, it's about time for a real content-filled entry - if nothing else, so that folks will know I'm a person and not just some sort of meme-bot.

Since the last meaty entry in February, things have been rather hectic. Work requirements have pulled me out of town for at least one week a month (two weeks in May). Even though they seem so far away, work on WorldCon, 1812Tone (the 2006 UK filk con), and GAFilk gets piled up and things fall through the cracks - sometimes because they were finished too early and then got lost, leading them to need to be redone.

Bedlam House work has also suffered. I'm way behind on paying royalties this year, not least because I'm too fried to go through countless $0.65 downloads to do the accounting. Projects are still moving along, albeit slowly, including polishing of some material for khaosworks and looking for a way to release it quickly (and inexpensively). Other things that are being done bit by bit are getting drum tracks recorded for a CD Dodeka is working on, waiting for tracks to be finished for quadrivium's CD, and working out details for the second run of Three Weird Sisters first CD. I really need to get busy on the website as well, considering it is ugly, non-functional, and out of date. In my copious free time, I'm trying to learn Dreamweaver and Flash in order to be able to do that - I wish the company had enough money to hire this work out, that's for sure.

We had a good time at Marcon, in spite of worrying about ladyat's problems (see here for more details on that). It's always good to hang out with friends, and we had just enough responsibility there to keep busy but not get exhausted. ladyat missed a lot, but we got to see the art show and dealers' room, filkertom's concert, Barry and Sally Childs-Helton's concert, and a number of other things (including going out for dinner with folks each night).

I managed to get my Miata t-boned on the same road where my old one was sandwiched just over a year ago. I hope this doesn't become an annual event. Luckily, this time it is fixable and I may actually have it back by tomorrow afternoon.

While poking through Delta's sale fares a couple of weeks ago I noticed that there was a major sale on flights to Indianapolis (ah-HA! Airtran just started a new route to Indy!) so I snapped up a round trip ticket and went to visit my dad for 4 days. We did all kinds of Indiana things (went to the volunteer fire department fish fry, ate tenderloin sandwiches, watched a tractor pull, visited my aunts in Terre Haute, walked through the new buildings on the Rose-Hulman campus, and grilled steaks in the back yard) and had a very good time. My dad is happy because I upgraded his laptop from a 4Gb hard drive to a 60 Gb hard drive. I'm actually feeling like I had some "home" time (holiday visits are nice but too busy sometimes to just relax), though I wish I could have gone up the weekend before (for the draft horse pulls) or maybe in late August (for the State Fair).

Since the last trip to Arizona the first week of June, I've had an ongoing battle with congestion that just keeps travelling from my chest to my sinuses and back. It seems to be finally clearing up, but it has left me with one of those annoying coughs that just last forever.

That catches us up to this week. The home office is still a mess, I still need to get all the bills paid, and we're still trying to figure out all the niggling details for the trip to the UK for WorldCon and the Great British Beer Festival.

No rest for the wicked, I guess.

Glad to hear what you're up to! *hug*

Speaking of Interaction, would you know of anyone I could send the Pegasus Nominating ballots, etc to (as a PDF file) in order to make 'em available at Worldcon? filkerdave says he'd be happy to handle 'em onsite, but doesn't want to carry the paper over with him on the flight :-)

(::sigh:: no worldcon for me, but that means you get A & T, instead!)

I could print out PDFs here and take them with me to Glasgow. They'd need to be A4.

Oh, that would be loverly :-)

The PDF's are currently in US standard 8.5 x 11 format; I'l see if I can get 'em converted to A4, then can email 'em to you. Would it be better to send them to the Wiggle address, or to your personal email from the Wiggle list?

Thank you for the help!

Personal address probably best, though they both end up in the same place - they just get sorted in defferent folders.

I hadn't known about Brenda's problems till I read your entry. Best wishes to her.

Had a quick look at the web site. On the registration page, "Sybell Macat" should be "Sibylle Machat"

Rose-Hulman. That brings back memories. They had the neatest brochures. Did you go there, by chance?
Phil Parkertigertoy on July 1st, 2005 05:39 am (UTC)
I remember those brochures. I got enough stuff from colleges when I was finishing high school to build a house, and Rose-Hulman was the only one that tried humor. They were funny, too, but it didn't get me to seriously consider going away to school when I could stay at home and attend what everyone said was the #3 school in my field in the entire country.

Yep. Graduated in '81. My dad graduated from there in '58, my grandfather in '35.

And just one more - page 3 of the PR spells her name wrong as well!

And on the same page - where are the driving directions from???

Oh and of course the membership list is out of date as of yesterday - it's no longer "Unnamed Allcock" :-)
