A Point to Ponder
When I read:

Associated Press
Published October 17, 2005, 1:24 AM CDT

HYANNIS, Mass. -- U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy attempted to rescue six men who had become trapped by high tide on a jetty off Hyannisport on Sunday.

The Massachusetts Democrat eventually left the rescue to Hyannis firefighters, The Cape Cod Times reported Monday.

was it wrong of me to think that perhaps he shouldn't have tried to drive over there to get them?

It'll be interesting to see if the people in question corroborate Kennedy's claimed rescue attempt.

Drive?
You think perhaps he should have walked?

Only tangentally related, but you'd probably find amusing - We were out in the car over the weekend and saw two signs on a pole as we went by. ACat didn't read it, he was busy driving, but he wanted to know what I was howling at. The top sign was someone's "Vote for (whoever it was) for City Counselor) and the bottom one was apparently for real estate, but all you could see was that it had been covered with a great big SOLD sign! There's truth in advertising, and then there's... (Quite possibly you just hadda be there.)

Teddy Kennedy
Kitanzi's comment was an absolute howler! But then, bedlamhouse, your comment is too. (My father, dead since 1988 but no dummy, felt that Teddy Kennedy was a common criminal who belonged in prison, not somebody who belonged in high profile public office. And then there was that legendary Volkswagen ad, "If Teddy Kennedy had been driving a Volkswagen at Chappaquiddick, he'd be president today." The book I read on the topic, though a bit dense and ponderous, tends to corroborate my father's opinion.) Stay in touch.

Re: Teddy Kennedy
Criminal, perhaps, but hardly common. Common criminals are represented by public defenders and go to jail.
