A Hard Week For Parents
It has been a hard week for parents of my generation.

A number of close friends, some from high school and some from fandom, have had their mothers or fathers cross over this past week.

Yesterday, my father was taken to the hospital in Florida with an enlarged aorta (he passed out while driving due to a drop in blood pressure) AND two very large kidney stones (he thought the pain was basically just his back pain). He bumped a car in front of him when he passed out - no one was hurt and my thanks to the driver of the other car who came back to check on him and called the ambulance.

I'm trying to keep up remotely, feeling guilty that I'm not there and also feeling guilty that I have two very major commitments this summer that I don't want to cancel out of. I'm wishing I could convince him to live up here in the frozen North, though he can get out and about better in Florida when he's healthy.

I'm sorry, but also happy that it wasn't worse.

Good luck!

I wish a speedy recovery to your father. Thank you to the other driver who did the right thing.

where in Florida is he? Tony and I are just west of Orlando. I could go visit him for you maybe if it's not too far.

It can be very bad when someone is knocked out by a medical issue while driving, and I'm glad it wasn't worse. I hope he has a good recovery.

Positive vibes being sent
In the case of my parents who, thank goodness, are still around, they have my sister, a nurse, who lives a little over a mile of them, so I guess they're safe. I'm guessing my parents are close in age to your parents. The best thing I can suggest is to be there in spirit for them.
